The oak comes from environmentally managed forests in the UK. It is sustainable as well as durable and beautiful.
These labels will last for years, weathering to a rich grey brown. The writing can be erased at any time with a rubber eraser or a light rub with a fine sand paper. Permanent felt pen markers can also be used, if you want a bolder, permanent label.
The labels serve two purposes. They remind you of what you have sown and they show you where the row begins. Unless you have a very neat garden, it’s a good idea to mark where the row ends too. That way you’re less likely to hoe your previous seedlings.
They don’t look as nice, but a cheaper alternative is to cut strips from cartons of Flora and write with a permanent marker. If you give one end a point they are easier to get into the soil.
