Some of the proceeds made from the tie dye bucket goes to supporting musicians from West Africa. Whether it’s supplying educational projects with instruments or giving musicians from Senegal the chance to travel and work in the UK and that way bringing traditional Senegalese music to the forefront of the festival circuit.
The djembe drum is an example of a traditional West African instrument. The drum shells are made from wild mango or lengee trees. The shell is treated with Palm Oil which nourishes the wood and gives it a nice orange sheen. Goat skin is then stretched over the shell to complete the drum.
