There are over 175,000 acres of derelect land across Great Britain, much of which could be made more attractive and more beneficial to wildlife with a few wild flowers. Wild flowers do not need to be exotic or rare, they can just be common plants which provide seasonal colour and a haven for wildlife. Plants like buttercups or foxgloves, which can be invasive 'weeds' in domestic gardens, are welcome additions to urban wasteland.
