The glass bell-shaped cloche was the original Victorian cloche that became popular towards the end of the 1900s
They are very effective at protecting tender plants but they do not have any natural ventilation so on hot days we recommend that one side is propped up with a small stone to allow the air to circulate.
The curved shape allows the surface of the cloche to always be perpendicular to the direction of the sun thereby achieving minimum refraction and maximum penetration of light. The optimum growing environment.
