Guatemalan gifts handmade
De La Selva makes natural firelighters and environmentally friendly gifts in the small village of San Juan del Obispo, a quick trip from the country’s colonial city, La Antigua in Guatemala.
All products are 100% hand-made, mostly in the homes of the Maya people in the lowlands and highlands of Guatemala. All eco-friendly and sustainable.
Since President Óscar Berger came to office in January 2004, thousands of rural families in Guatemala have been forcibly evicted from their homes. This makes the work that socially responsible organizations like De La Selva do really important. They provide a regular source of income to hundreds of workers in rural communities.
De La Selva recently funded the building of a school in La Giralda and the rebuilding of the same area following the devastation caused by Hurricane Stan in October 2005.
