Our light sussex chicks, seen here with their silkie foster mother, are now 6 weeks old. If they had been intensively farmed for their meat, they would have been on the supermarket shelves by now! As it is they have all the time in the world to sit and watch the world go by. With a bit of luck they'll start laying this side of Christmas.
The fertile eggs came by post from Pippin Eggs. Great service.
